Why a Car Unlocks the Quiet Ones
The famous beaches are easy to reach by bus or taxi. The good ones often aren't. A rental lets you arrive before the day-trip coaches, leave when the crowds roll in, and detour to a hidden cove on a whim. It also means you carry your towels, cooler, and shade with you instead of renting everything on arrival.
Parking is the trade-off. In July and August, coastal lots fill early and roadside spots vanish by mid-morning. The fix is simple: arrive before 10:00 or after 17:00, and treat any signed paid lot as a small price for a guaranteed spot. Distances here are short, but drive times are traffic- and season-dependent, so add a buffer on summer afternoons. Budva's Big Two: Jaz & Mogren
Jaz, just west of Budva, is a long open beach with room to breathe and a big organised lot right behind it. It's the easy default: park, walk a few steps, and you're on the sand. The far end stays calmer if you walk away from the entrance.
Mogren, by contrast, hides just past Budva's Old Town along a cliff-side footpath. There's no parking at the beach itself, so leave the car near the Old Town and walk the last stretch. Go early; the path and the sand both clog up by midday.
The Postcard: Sveti Stefan View
The island-village of Sveti Stefan is one of the most photographed spots in the Adriatic, and the public viewpoint above the road is free and unforgettable. Quieter South: Petrovac & Lučice
Petrovac is a relaxed, family-friendly town with a walkable promenade and a small town beach.
